Hawaiian Style Vacation Rentals at Killino Farms 84-5193 Mamalahoa Highway (PO Box 651) Captain Cook

We are located in Captain Cook (more exactly Honaunau) which is about 25 miles south of the Kona International Airport. The drive will take about 40 minutes in light traffic. The farm is located between mile markers 106 and 105 (mile markers decrease going south), makai (towards the ocean) off Highway 11 (Mamalahoa Highway). Please use these instructions and do not rely on GPS. The GPS will not guide you to where you need to go upon entering our farm. The Google car does not travel by all houses especially here in Hawaii!
Coming from the Kona International Airport, turn right out of the airport south onto Highway 11 or Mamalahoa Highway (also called Queen Ka’ahumanu in Kailua-Kona).
Turn left towards Captain Cook (staying on Mamalahoa Highway) at the intersection with traffic lights for Napoopoo Road, Ali’i Drive and Mamalahoa Highway. You know you are on the right road after the turn, if you see Aloha Gas station and NAPA Auto Parts on the right side of the road.
Turn right (toward the ocean) off the highway on to our driveway just after mile marker 106 but before 105. Look for The Kona Potters Guild sign as they share our driveway. Put on your turn signal when you see the yellow traffic sign for curve ahead after mile marker 106 on the makai (ocean) side of the highway. The turn onto our driveway is more than 90 degrees, slow down, almost to a stop, to make it. Just look for the Pottery sign if you do not see it, you are not at the right driveway. There are No Parking signs on either side of the driveway along the highway.
Our driveway is one quarter mile in length. We are easy to locate from the Kona airport, but if this is your first trip here, you will not be used to the Big Island farm roads. The driveway has bumps and loose gravel, so drive slowly and carefully. Also watch for dogs on the driveway. They will move, just go slow. Avoid driving on the edges of the road. You will see metal pipes running along side the driveway. THE PIPES ARE OUR WATER PIPES. Please, notify us immediately if you think you may have caused any damage to them.
After turning onto the driveway you will go by the Pottery Studio on your left. There will be coffee farms on your right and your left. The driveway will come to a Y (Killino Farms sign at Y), stay to the right at the Y. Our driveway crosses land owned by other people, please be respectful. Continue down the driveway, near the end it bends to the right around an electrical pole. You should see a gate. Open the gate TOWARDS you and drive through. Please close the gate behind you.
Proceed forward from the gate driving under some plumeria trees. The driveway will split again. Stay to the RIGHT and park in the large open grassy area in front of our carport, an open pavilion with a rusty roof under which are farm tools and equipment. Park in front of the carport and honk your horn. We will be out to greet you shortly to show you how to get to your apartment and where to park. It may take us a minute or two to get out to you as we have young children.
While on our farm, please drive slowly. There are dogs and other guests staying here. We are a farm. Do not expect a paved road, or be alarmed about driving on the grass. Our farm roads are grass covered.
Let us know if you have any questions. You can reach us by email or you can call. Mahalo for your booking. Travel safely and we look forward to seeing you.
